Campo dè Fiori is located at the end of Via dè Giubbonari, on the eastern bank of the river Tevere. This square keeps the charm and the magic atmosphere it had in the Medium Age. Around 1440 Pope Eugene IV paved it with bricks, and since then it became one of the most important center of the city. The square was used for horse races, there were hotels and taverns, Popes exposed their announcements and it was used for capital executions. In 1600 Giordano Bruno was executed there as an heretic. His commemorative monument, realised by Ettore Ferrari in 1889, is now in the center of the square. Since 1869 a charming and lively market is located there.
