At the end of Via del Corso is located the grandiose Piazza del Popolo, with its unbeatable architectural design. The square was built in three centuries, starting from the second half of the 15th century with the renovation of the church of Santa Maria del Popolo and ending in 1824 with its neoclassic redesign made by the architect Giuseppe Valadier. The "twin" churches of the XVIIth Century: Santa Maria di Montesanto, on the right, and Santa Maria dei Miracoli, on the left, are located in the southern part of the square. The first one was started by Carlo Rainaldi in 1662 and finished in 1673 by Carlo Fontana under the supervision of Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Also the other church was started from Carlo Rainaldi in 1675 and terminated after 1677 by Carlo Fontana.
